EcoChurch

Local churches caring for God’s world

Most of the Postlebury churches have signed up for the EcoChurch scheme. This national scheme is a great way for churches to be more active in caring for the environment, both in the buildings and land that we look after, and in our communal church life.

The Eco Church survey covers 5 areas of church life

  • Worship and teaching
  • Buildings
  • Land
  • Community and global engagement
  • Lifestyle

Although this is an award scheme, with bronze/silver/gold levels, it’s more about the journey than the destination, as we seek to work with our local communities and include creation care in all that we do.

Look out for opportunities to get involved in encouraging more wildlife in churchyards, improving the sustainability of our buildings, campaigning on local and national environmental issues and celebrating and caring for the diversity of life around us.

We have already carried out wildlife surveys in three of our churchyards and are planning to make them more hospitable to nature.
